This Time Around

Hello Lovelies!

I've had a realization and I want to share it with you.

If you don't know, I've struggled with my weight my whole life. When I was little it was merciless teasing and name calling and now its "Oh you'd be such a knock out...if you lost weight".

But up until now, every time I try to lose weight, I approach it the same way.

As a number.

I mentally think, "I want to lose X amount of pounds". But that just seems so robotic and not going to get me anywhere. And it hasn't. Its one thing to set a weight goal, its another to envision a new mentality.

I finally realized that I need to stop caring about the number but instead care about how I'll feel. I mean I could lose all the weight, but it means nothing if I'm not happy.

Happiness isn't a number on the scale, its a feeling. Its a state of being.

And being healthy and happy are intertwined.

They're best friends. This is true at a medical level too. Endorphins! But think about it at the emotional level. You'll feel great about yourself and will be happy!

So that's how I'm going to approach this. Of course, its gonna be hard. I have a $800 meal plan at my school's oh-so-healthy cafeteria which I have to use. But that just adds to the fun?

Any tips, tricks, suggestions? Let me know!

Erase Your Zits! (Well Cover Them Super Well!)

Hello Lovelies!

I'm always looking for a good concealer, I've had acne since I was 12 and since have always been on the lookout. And I've got to say, I found something that had done the best job yet!

Whatisitheader

Benefit Erase Paste Concealer in Fair

According to Benefit: "This concentrated, creamy concealer brightens and camouflages in one easy step! Targets dark circles, discoloration and imperfections."

It is a super creamy, heavy concealer that comes in three shades, "Fair", "Medium" and "Deep" and they all have pink undertones to help brighten.

erasepastecontainertop

Formulatextureheader

This concealer is THICK. And very, very concentrated! The littlest goes the loooooongest way!

However, part of the allure of this concealer is for brightening the under-eye area. But in all honesty? I'd avoid putting it there! Thicker concealers tend to settle into lines under the eyes, making you look more tired! But for acne, blemishes, scars? This is beautiful!

A lot of concealers emphasize the dryness of any zits I have but this one actually did not!

Now, this concealer comes with a little spatula for dispensing product but DO NOT USE IT! You'll get way too much product! Honestly, all I do is dab my finger in and pat it all over my face. Like barely any product! Love!

I'm a NW15 in MAC and was afraid that "Fair" would be too dark for me but its actually quite perfect! Because of the pink "brightening" undertones, it looks more natural on my pink complexion. Score!

Try to find the swatch!

packagingheader

Like all super creamy concealers, this comes in a pot form. And like I mentioned, avoid that little spatula like the plague! Trust me! You're gonna get way too much product then you'll need for the whole week! Maybe it will be useful when the pot is empty and you're scraping from the bottom..hmm.

Benefit always has the cutest packaging and this is no exception! I mean, seriously, a pink little pot and purple lid!? Adorable.

priceandavailability

Benefit's Erase Paste is available at Sephora and wherever Benefit is sold! As well as their respected websites! And it retails for $26 but you're getting a ton of product!

overallheader

I would definitely recommend this concealer if you're looking for a concealer that is super thick and need a little extra coverage that you can't find in other concealers.

I will be honest, you need to swatch this and try it on your own skintone first! Because there is only 3 shades! I wish they had more variety, but I'm a NW15 and this has been working!

Let me know what your favorite concealer is and if you've tried this one out!

Bella Bamba Blushorma!

Hello Lovelies!

SNOW DAY! Well the snow day was declared for all classes from noon and after. And what time was my class? 10-12! Boo! So I missed out on the fun!

But who says playing with makeup isn't a fun girlie snow day activity?!

Time for a review on Benefit's latest edition to their Box o' Blushes, Bella Bamba!

Whatisitheader

"Amplify cheekbones and create the illusion of sculpted features with this 3D watermelon blush. Laced with shimmering gold undertones, bella bamba is taking eye popping pretty to the third dimension...you'll never use traditional blush again!" - Benefit's website

Well, we have been addicted to 3D lately, so it only makes sense to make a 3D blush! Once HD TV caught on, so did HD makeup. Now with 3D TV making a splash, its obvious our makeup needs to 3D quality!

bellabambapackaging

Formulatextureheader

This is my first Benefit blush and oh my goodness! I don't think it will be my last! It is so velvety and rich and just feels a little extra luxurious when compared to my other powder blushes! It has its little gold sparkle but no fall out!

The pigmentation is awesome, if you wanna go wild and do a bright pink some days and a lighter pink on others, you can!

It is a beautiful watermelon pink! It reminds me of a much pinker version of NARS' "Orgasm". I've worn it everyday since I picked it up, because like I mentioned before, it can be both subtle or dramatic.

I think what Benefit is known for are their boxed blushes. Cute little boxes with a mini brush inside, making it convenient to travel with.

This is my first Benefit blush but I have heard a lot of boxed blush lovers discuss the new packaging. Other Benefit blushes have a detachable lid and no mirror, while Bella Bamba has an attached lid and mirror.

But the complaint many have made? Same price as the other blushes but less product?! Bella Bamba has 0.28 oz while the others boxed blushes contain 0.35 oz.

But the same price? I can imagine the reasoning being the attached lid and the added mirror. But who knows! The mirror is a nice addition but is it worth less product?

Otherwise this packaging is adorable and colorful and holographic! The little brush is okay for travel but I don't think I'll be using it everyday, its a little too wide for my taste!

priceandavailability

The Bella Bamba blush can be found at Sephora, Sephora.com, Benefit counters, Benefitcosmetics.com, anywhere Benefit can be found and retails for $28.

Let me say that when compared to higher end blushes like NARS and MAC, this price is on-par with the price/product amount ratio!

overallheader

Overall, I am loving this blush! I was worried I'd look super red because of my fair skin with pink undertones but nope! I already have my eye on some other Benefit blushes! It feels great, looks great and is super cute!

Great product! And definitely recommend it! I think it will flatter any skintone!

Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in "Ginger"

Hello Lovelies!

I never had the urge to try one of the Buxom lipglosses until I saw one that was called "Ginger" and that it was a gorgeous coppery-red color that featured a ginger on the packaging. That was like a no brainer for me. Because I love me some lipgloss and being a redhead!

Whatisitheader

"A Buxom babe is all about curves, tingles and attitude — and that includes the lips. Plump what you've got with our luscious polish, which naturally creates the look of fuller, more voluptuous lips. You'll know it's working when a tingly, cooling sensation rushes over you." - From Bare Escentuals' website

The whole Buxom lip polish line features different Buxom girls on the boxes with coordinating colors that moisturize and plump your lips and leave you feeling refreshed!

gingerbox

packagingheader

Like I mentioned before the packaging is adorable with each little Buxom girl! The gloss itself is in a heavier container that is sleek and sexy. As for the amount of product, you get .15 oz of product which is less than the average MAC lipglass which has .17 oz of product.

This surprised me since it looks significantly larger but has less product. As for the applicator it has a typical doe-foot.

gingerglosspackaging

Formulatextureheader

The formula is rather non-sticky but not completely non-sticky. Its pretty pigmented and has a little shimmer and sparkle but what sets it apart is the plumping.

It really plumped my lips up, filled the lines of my lips in to give me that full lip. It has a refreshing minty, tingling feeling. It actually leaves my whole mouth feeling like I just rinsed it with mouth wash! Super refreshing and nice. And a nice little pick me up!

gingerswatch

priceandavailability

This is available at Sephora, Sephora.com, Bare Escentuals' website and some of their retail boutiques for $18.

overallheader

Overall, I'm really liking this gloss! Its an awesome plumping gloss and these come in a huge variety of colors. The packaging is adorable and the tingly, minty sensation really wakes you up! I find that this lasts a few hours for me! For now, I'll stick with just "Ginger" since I have been on a lip gloss kick, but I wouldn't be surprised if I checked out the other colors!

In real life, its a little darker and those lines aren't as defined! Sorry my flash likes to point those little things out!

Major Major Change

Hello Lovelies!

I thought I needed to blog this all out. My college life and all my major changes because if you follow me on Twitter, you know how much its been stressing me out!

But to know all my major major changes I've made we need to go back to high school graduation in 2008.

All throughout high school I wanted to be a sports journalist. There was no talking me out of it. I lived and breathed sports. I was sports editor of the school paper, I won awards for my articles, I was published on the YES Network's website, I was published in our local papers. I was doing everything right for my major.

I choose the best school that I could accelerate in and land an internship with. I was bound for it. In my yearbook are signatures accompanied by "can't wait to see you on ESPN!". I was that in to it.

But then something hit me. I needed to help people. So I decided to take some criminal justice classes. I was interested in law. Not any law, but becoming an adoption attorney.

I looked into it and began to realize the good and very bad of it. I decided to continue with law and to become a judge.

Not any judge, but the next Judge Judy. But once I realized that wasn't happening I switched to pure criminal justice, I wanted to work with the FBI but no, not do field work as glorified in movies and TV. I even hit the gym everyday and ready to get my ass in ass-kicking gear, just in case. But then I realized that wasn't really me. At this time it is the first semester of my second year.

And then it dawned upon, forensics. I would be doing the crime fighting in the lab, and since last year I have been taking my science courses. But recently I had a change of heart. As fun as it may be to solve crime, I want to interact with people. Not be in a lab for all hours of the night, by myself and running machines and tests.

What is one thing that has always interested me, but I never expressed? Nursing. Maternity, labor and delivery nursing. I always thought about it in the back of my mind but never thought I could do it. Never thought I could handle it. But in reality, the gore of forensics made me realize I could handle the possibility of nursing. And now I am.

But now, I'm a 3rd year student, in my 2nd semester. All of my friends are graduating next year.

And my family is convinced I'm crying "wolf" again but this time is different. But with the way my school is setup, I'm gonna have the hardest time changing majors again.

Right now things are up in the air but I'm happy with the path I'm on now. I feel like these past few years have been a puzzle and now all the pieces are in the right place.

Its ok to change your mind, its your life. You are the one who needs to be happy. Even if it takes a little extra work. Its okay. The road is gonna be a little bumpy but thats life.

Review: Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner

I'm one of those girl's whose must-have makeup item is a good black eye liner! It does wonders to my eyes! I have fair skin, red hair and blonde lashes. I can sleep for 10 hours and still look tired. But with a little black eyeliner, my eyes are brighter and leaving me looking wide awake! So, its a makeup necessity!

Whatisitheader

According to Revlon's website they claim their ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner does the following:
"Elegant, sexy and sophisticated, Revlon® Colorstay™ Liquid Liner allows you to emphasize your eyes with precision. Dries quickly and lasts all day."

Like everything else in their Colorsray line, this product's goal is to stay put all day and not fade! It has a small felt tip applicator.

colorstay

Formulatextureheader

Like all liquid liners, the product is a bit wet however after 3 seconds it dries to the touch.

Another great thing about this liner's formula is that it does in fact last all day. The photos that you'll see are of my liner after about 12 hours of wear! Never smudged, budged or faded. I find that many drugstore liquid liners fade from a deep black to a dark gray. However, this liner retained the same color, all day.

I've been using this for a few months and it still works well as the day I got it!

eyeclose

packagingheader

The Colorstay liquid liner is a traditional liquid liner in the sense that it has a small, precise liquid liner tip. It is a felt tip but it is much more stiff than other felt tip liners, like L'Oreals Carbon Black Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Liner. I actually prefer this tip because of the precession and found it much easier!

And amazingly, this little want holds a good amount of product so you don't need to keep dipping in the well for me!

colorstayapplicator

applicationheader

Application is everything for liquid liners! So here are my tips to get a great liquid line!
* Shake the product before using
* Start at the middle of the lid, because you brush has the most product now. I start in the middle and go out then back to the center and then finally to the inner corner.
*If you want a thinner line, aim the tip of the wand directly at your eye, for a thicker line hold the wand at an angle
*Wanna wing it out? I start my wings at the outer part of my lid, retracing that outer line and then flicking the tip out!

linerswattches

priceandavailability

I bought my liner at Target for around $5! Which in my opinion, is unheard of for a liquid liner! But I have seen go up to $9 at the drugstore! Shop around but Target had it the cheapest! However I have found that CVS has a wider array of colors, instead of just the blackest black, which is what I have, but they also have regular black, black-brown, etc.

overallheader

Love, love, love! I don't know why it has taken me so long to review this! But its so inexpensive and does a great job. Even better than higher end liners that I have tried!

If you're not used to liquid liner, remember to practice! And if you're ever in a rush, don't bother doing a thin line because 9 out of 10 times, it'll end up thicker! So go with it and plan accordingly!

Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick

Hello again Lovelies!

Since I have professed my love for Revlon's Colorburst lipglosses (review can be found here: Click!) I figured I might as well put my CVS Extrabucks to use and buy the Colorburst lipstick!

I mean I love the gloss, and everyone raves about the lipstick so I figured I'd love it!

Well...we are gonna call this post a "First Take" since I don't feel like I can honestly review this product since I had a problem with it.

Anyways I bought the lipstick in "Baby Pink" and I loved the color! Its a subtle soft pink but with frost. The pigmentation was awesome.

So I love it, right?

Every time I applied the lipstick the product itself would shift and scrape the tube. I'd move it back in place but the next time I used it, the same problem! We're talking very minimal pressure.

I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. I do plan on trying another shade to see if its just the formula.

Note how the lipstick is kinda scraped against the rim?

Tada the leaning tower of lipstick!

Such a mess!

babypinkvsgaga
Another thing I loved about this color was that it is super similar to MAC's "Viva Glam Gaga" except "Gaga" is much creamier and brighter while "Baby Pink" is much more wearable and has a frost!

So I want to hear from you, have your tried these lipstick and had similar results? Let me know!

After I try another one, I'll do a full review! But for now, the Revlon Colorburst Lipstick is a hot mess but a pretty pigmented color!
